MD Logistics bolsters West Coast biologic storage capabilities
Leading third-party logistics (3PL) provider MD Logistics is significantly increasing the biologic storage capabilities of its FDA-registered, cGMP compliant, state of the art, facility located in Reno, Nevada.
The company is doubling the square footage of its 2 to 8 degrees Celsius cooler, thereby increasing its biologic storage capacity threefold by the end of 2014.
Keeping pace with customer needs for biologic storage on the West Coast was a strong impetus for the cooler expansion, said Jeff Luthman, vice president of life sciences solutions for MD Logistics. “Our customers frequently drive our innovations,” Luthman said. “By expanding this cooler, we are giving our life sciences and pharmaceutical customers access to additional storage and distribution solutions in the Reno facility.”
In addition to the cooler expansion, MD Logistics also recently extended its cold chain services to accommodate -20 degree Celsius storage and shipping solutions. A major part of this service expansion was procuring the necessary equipment for -20 storage, as well as training personnel on the intricacies of extreme cold chain operations and the biologic needs of sensitive bio-pharmaceuticals.
