As one year comes to a close and another one begins, we look back on 2017 in anticipation for what 2018 will bring.
Last year proved to be another year of growth for the MD Logistics team. We started the year off by announcing yet another company expansion, growing both our pharmaceutical warehouse footprint and our internal team in Plainfield, IN.
We learned what was on, President & CEO, Mark Sell’s mind when he sat down with Pharmaceutical Commerce to discuss everything from the early days at MD Logistics to the trends he sees impacting the pharmaceutical industry in the years to come.
In response to the growing e-commerce trend in retail, we published a new white paper on how subsequent returns are impacting both retailers and the 3PL’s they often end up back at.
Mark was also asked by Global Trade Magazine to lend his industry experience and volunteer advice, on ‘Everything you need to know about Logistics’. Along with 6 other industry experts, he covered topics ranging from technology in logistics to under served regions that offer potential growth for exporters.
During the summer, our very own Director of Pharmaceutical Operations, Chad Hodges, was recognized by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve for his role in facilitating leaves of absence for the military commitments of one of our team members. Chad was nominated and presented the Patriot Award for his work.
The end of the summer was marked by accolades and charity events. We were once again recognized as a top 3PL by both Inbound Logistics and Global Trade Magazine for the 6th consecutive year. As we continue to grow and place great emphasis on our team and delivering quality solutions for our customers, this type of recognition is particularly sweet. We also sponsored the 10th Annual Dave Kiebach Memorial Golf Tournament in memory of our co-founder, Dave, who passed away suddenly 10 years ago. This event is anticipated by many as a way to remember our friend Dave, but also to raise money for organizations that were near and dear to him. 2017’s event was one to remember as we were able to raise over $19,000!
We ended the year by publishing another white paper that touched on the importance of safely transporting cold chain pharmaceutical product. In 2017 we saw the amount of temperature sensitive biologics and the demand for appropriate storage solutions, grow. In return, the need for transportation options to transport these biologics safely within their set temperature range expanded as well.
2017 was a busy, yet productive year for MD. Our first month into 2018, we can’t help but be excited for what is in store for us.
